Our denturist Andre will provide you with immediate dentures which can be converted to permanent dentures or temporary dentures, which you can wear while your oral tissues heal after an extraction or while custom permanent dentures are being produced.

What are Immediate Dentures?
Immediate dentures are dentures that you can wear right after your dentist extracts your teeth. Unlike traditional, dentures, immediate dentures are modified as your healing from tooth extraction progresses. These dental prosthetics are custom-fitted to your oral cavity and modified as you heal to provide the best possible fit. Although they are not always ideally comfortable due to the rapidly changing and healing tissues, they will provide you with functional teeth while your gums and jaw bone are healing and reshaping.
When is an Immediate Denture Used?
To avoid being completely without teeth, Andre will employ an immediate denture solution. He will take an impression of your mouth while your natural teeth are present. He will then fabricate a denture to resemble your natural teeth or make any necessary modifications.
Once your natural teeth are extracted, your immediate denture is inserted. You have avoided living without teeth while completing the healing process!
Full Mouth Extraction with Immediate Denture Steps
Generally, immediate dentures from the Bracebridge Denture Clinic involve a three-step denture modification process to convert the dentures from immediate to the final, permanent denture
Step 1
Tooth Extraction and Instant Denture Fitting
Before having your teeth extracted, our denturist will take impressions, make custom biometric measurements and fabricate your immediate dentures. Once the dentures have been fabricated and delivered to you, your extraction appointment may then take place.
Your dentist will extract your teeth and insert your immediate dentures on the same day. You can experience some discomfort, but no more than you would from the extractions alone. In fact, immediate dentures act like a bandage, holding your tissues together and protecting them while healing.
Most of the time, you will wear the immediate dentures without taking them off until the day after the surgery. On the same or following day, your denturist will make any necessary adjustments to the prosthesis so that you may be as comfortable as is possible during the first stage of healing
As your jaw continues to heal and the bone shrinks, your same day dentures will gradually become loose. Provisional liners will be placed in the loosening denture to help it stay in place while you are healing. As the healing period comes to an end, a permanent reline will be placed in your denture to conclude the modifications to your immediate dentures, converting them to the permanent, most comfortable, stable and functional version.
Fabrication and Fitting of the Permanent Denture
Once you gums and jaw bone have healed enough (usually 6 to 9 months after your extractions), the final modification of a permanent reline can be made to your immediate denture.
After your final reline, annual check-ups are recommended to assess the fit and function of your denture and oral health. Future relines may be required to your denture. The frequency of relines can vary and will depend on the rate of your continuing jaw bone shrinkage. A licensed Denturist will be able to recommend the relining frequency during a regular periodontal examination.
Advantages of Immediate Dentures
There are several advantages of receiving immediate dentures from the Bracebridge Denture Clinic. First and foremost, same-day dentures mean that you will never need to go in public without teeth! Of course, some discomfort is to be expected after an extraction, – but you will be able to eat, talk, and eat while your surgical sites are healing.
Another important advantage of instant dentures is that they will act as a Band-Aid to reduce bleeding and protect the sensitive oral tissues. They will also minimize facial distortion that may result from a full mouth extraction.
Disadvantages of Immediate Dentures
When it comes to immediate dentures, the biggest disadvantage is the modifications required. If you choose to get an immediate denture at the time of extraction, you will require modification appointments to ensure the best as you progress through your healing.
